Nancy Shizue Tsuji Whang

Nancy Shizue Tsuji Whang, 87, died on Aug. 12, 2012 at home in Basalt, Colo. Born on Aug. 30, 1924 in Kohala, Hawaii to Japanese immigrants, she married Richard Chaul Roong Whang in 1949. He preceded her in death in 2006.

She moved from Honolulu to Colorado almost 20 years ago and was an active member of Mid-Valley Seniors in Basalt. She enjoyed traveling, reading, walking, gardening and skiing.

She is survived by her sisters, Beatrice Nakaoka and Ruth Galloway; brother Wilfred Takeo Tsuji, and her children, Carole Whang Schutter, Lincoln Alan Whang, Wanda Whang Horibe, and Sandy Lea Miller; and seven grandchildren.



A memorial service will be held on Aug. 30 at 2 p.m. at Christ Community Church in Basalt.
