‘Music Man’ auditions approaching

ASPEN – Auditions for Aspen Community Theatre’s fall production, “The Music Man,” will be held Sept. 9-10, with callbacks on Sept. 12. Auditions are at the Aspen District Theatre on Sept. 9, and at Aspen High School’s Black Box on Sept. 10.
Auditions are open to adults of all ages, and to children age 9 and older. Rehearsals begin Sept. 21, and the musical, directed and choreographed by John Goss, will be presented Nov. 5-15 at the Aspen District Theatre.
Copies of the script and soundtrack are available at the Pitkin County Library. Those auditioning should prepare a song, bring sheet music and wear shoes appropriate for movement. An accompanist will be provided.
“The Music Man,” by Meredith Wilson, is the story of a traveling salesman who visits a small Iowa town in 1912, trying to convince the town to adopt his music program. The musical, featuring the songs “Seventy-six Trombones” and “Till There Was You,” opened on Broadway in 1957 and earned six Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
