This coming weekend is the last this season for the Aspen Music Festival. Where, oh where, did the summer go? People are saying it’s never long enough. The Music Festival held its annual summer gala with a concert of George Gershwin favorites followed by a dinner and dance.Undercurrent …Those of us who came in the 1950s have witnessed the end of so many eras: the little old ladies and men left over from the silver mining days, the ranching that kept the valley going all through the Quiet Years, the era of the ski bums who brought Aspen back to life with a new economy, the hippies who brought their color and back-to-basics lifestyle, and now the waning of the 1970s group that changed politics in Aspen forever. We are now in the era of Aspen being sold as real estate.
