Mud closes Rio Grande Trail

ASPEN – The Rio Grande Trail was closed early Friday evening below Aspen because of a large mudslide.The trail was closed from the Slaughterhouse Bridge, which crosses the Roaring Fork River at the bottom of Cemetery Lane, and Stevens Street in the W/J subdivision, upvalley from Woody Creek, according to a brief announcement from the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office.Officials with the sheriff’s office and the Pitkin County Open Space & Trails ranger were on the scene.
