Muchas gracias for Leroy Duroux

Dear Editor:

Dear Amigo Mr. Leroy Duroux, it is an honor for me to be invited to your party. I remember the first time I met you. It was my pleasure to have met someone like you – a kind person. We met through the Basalsa! and Police Chief Keith Ikeda.

After we met each other, good friendship grew in the Latino community.

I will never forget that you were the first mayor who opened the door for us. It was a big impact in the Latino community. After that, they were feeling more self-confidence and trust, and all of us were feeling part of this beautiful town of Basalt. Since you invited us to the events in Basalt, we were so excited.

Also, some people said, “Wow! They know that we exist, too!” Thank you for opening the door for our Latino community. And that, believe me, signifies a lot for me.

That shows that you are a kind, non-racist person who does not see differences in color, status or language.

Thank you, thank you, for all of your support. God bless you.

And I hope our new mayor is going to do the same, because you have been, and are, a good example. I will be waiting for her.

Mil Gracias. A thousand thanks.

Adriana C. Torres
