Movin, groovin’ for cancer cure

Dear Editor:This is another letter to remind our community about the third annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life of the Roaring Fork Valley. The Relay For Life is an overnight event, taking place from Friday evening Aug. 11 to Saturday morning Aug. 12 at Roaring Fork High School in Carbondale. One really fun way to be involved in the Relay is to put together a Relay For Life team of eight to 15 people. Your team members will raise money for the American Cancer Society, and during the relay, team members will take turns walking or running around the track from 6 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday. Each team will be given space around the track to set up a campsite. The theme of this year’s Relay is “Movin and Groovin for a Cure.” Each team will choose a team name and team theme based on a song or musical genre or band or other musical concept. If teams really want to go all out, they can even decorate their campsite, wear crazy costumes, create a team dance, etc. We will have a pizza party, bands, contests and other entertainment to keep team members having fun and motivated all night long. If you are interested in being a team captain, or participating on a team, please call the event chair of the Relay For Life Roaring Fork Valley, Lauren Gueriera, 384-2490. For information in Spanish, please call Marty Martinez, 945-8706. Lauren GuerieraGlenwood Springs
