Eighteen members of Mountain Rescue Aspen escorted a lost hiker out of the Fryingpan River Valley on Wednesday night, according to a statement.

The 60-year-old hiker from the Front Range left the Chapman Campground area for a hike around 2 p.m. and had not returned by 6:40 p.m., when a family member called emergency dispatchers, the release states.

MRA volunteers began searching for the woman, who did not have the proper equipment to spend the night outside, about 7:50 p.m. and found her about 9:50 p.m. The hiker was taken to Aspen Valley Hospital, though the statement makes no mention of injuries.
