May SelbyOn the catwalk, Dennis Basso debuts his 2008-'09 winter collection in Aspen.

The Aspen Art Museum hosted its annual apres ski benefit evening at The St. Regis on Sunday, Dec. 28. Sponsored by Aspen Magazine and Moët Hennessy, the Dennis Basso Freestyle event is Aspen’s only fashion gala of the year, providing an opportunity to support the AAM’s internationally recognized con temporary arts programming.

Champagne, cocktails, caviar and hors d’oeuvres were served as guests bid on an elaborate array of silent auction items. Simon de Pury hosted the live auction, which showcased fine wine, fine art and haute couture. Artist Walead Beshty was among the artists whose work was up for bid in the live auction. Other works of his are currently on display at the museum in the group exhibition, Now You See It. As the grand finale of the evening, Dennis Basso presented his 2008/ 2009 Winter Collection runway fashion show to an enthusiastic audience.

The evening was deemed a huge success for the museum, with all funds directed to their operating budget ” which allows them to provide contemporary art to the community.
