Mountain Mayhem: Aspen Music Festival & School’s12th annual opera gala
Mountain Mayhem
The Aspen Music Festival and School presented its 12th annual opera gala on Aug. 12, a lovely summer evening of wining and dining culminating with an inspiring performance. The black tie affair began with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the home of Benefit Chair Richards Edwards, followed by dinner at the Caribou Club. At 8 p.m., all took their seats at the Benedict Music Tent to enjoy one of the world’s most beloved operas, French composer Georges Bizet’s “Carmen.” Maestro Josep Caballe-Domenech led the Aspen Opera Theater Center in a standing ovation-worthy performance, weaving the tale of seductive Gypsy Carmen who traipses through Seville, Spain, breaking hearts along the way.
