The 44th annual MotherLode Volleyball Classic wrapped up its second day in Aspen by crowning a pair of new champions.

Michelle Iafigliola and Andrea Peterson, of Hermosa Beach, California, won the women’s masters 35-over flight, while the Houston duo of Randy Meador and Steve Simpson won the men’s masters 45-over tournament.

The six-day beach volleyball tournament is one of the top pro-am events in the country and features more than 450 teams from the United States, Canada and Mexico. Friday, the featured action will be on the co-ed open and men’s masters 37-over players, with amateur divisions also getting underway at Wagner Park and Rio Grande Park. The main events are held at the tournament headquarters at Koch Lumber Park in Aspen.

Play begins at 9 a.m. today and spectator admission is free.

The amateur championship matches will be held through the morning and early afternoon Monday, with the beach championships taking place around 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. for the women and men, respectively.
