More than enough Denver memorials

Dear Editor:

Regarding J.P. McDaniel’s misguided attempt to name one of the peaks of Mount Sopris in honor of John Denver, count me in the “small minority” of those against such an effort.

Look, I liked the guy’s music too, back in the day, and played “Annie’s Song” with my buddy Roger at many a wedding. My folks lived nearby when he wanted to put a gasoline storage tank in his yard during the fuel crisis of the late ’70s. Not wanting to trample on the man’s grave, but let’s be serious: Mr. Deutschendorf (sic) already has many memorials. Leave Mount Sopris in peace.
