More Mick, the better
Dear Editor:
What good news to hear that Aspen might have the opportunity to retain Mick Ireland’s services as a city councilman after he term limits out as mayor.
In my opinion, no mayor in recent memory has served Aspen so selflessly and so well. Were it not for his insightful vigilance, Aspen might well have proven even greater prey to the selfish interests of some developers. While it is a shame that state law prevents him from serving a fourth term as mayor, the fact that he would be eligible to serve on the council for four or perhaps even eight more years is an opportunity we voters would be foolish to pass up.
Aspen is incredibly fortunate that there are people like Ireland who are willing to put up with the ridiculously low pay and the truly thankless nature of these jobs!
