More Bush-era politics
September 9, 2008
The addition of Sarah Palin to the Republican ticket as VP is a scary prospect. No surprise her acceptance speech was written by a former Bush speechwriter, full of condescending, negative partisan attacks with no real solutions, delivered with a sarcastic, mean-spirited smile. Her inexperience in foreign policy and the world economy compounded by her extremist positions make her a dangerous selection.
Sarah Palin is presently under investigation in Alaska for abuse of power. Sarah Palin recently said that the war in Iraq is “God’s task.” She is extremely anti-choice and opposes comprehensive sex-ed in public schools and wants to teach creationism in science classes. She is a champion for big oil and supports drilling in the Arctic Wildlife Refuge and doesn’t believe that humans contribute to global warming. She DID support the Bridge to Nowhere (before she opposed it) and claims she is a “maverick” with no ties to Washington lobbyists even tough she secured $27 million in federal earmarks for her small town of only 6,000 citizens.
I am tired of Karl Rove-style political attacks. I am tired of the lies. Americans don’t need another far-right, anti-science ideologue in the White House. McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate has degraded our political process to the level of a shoddy soap opera. We need to put an end to the Bush era of politics that Sarah Palin represents.
