Montana slow to evolve

Dear Editor:

Growing up in Montana I was aware of the extreme racism toward American Indians (especially in my neighborhood, the Crow and the Northern Cheyenne). To have a federal judge claim that he is apologizing for a racist email he forwarded and not resign is more than unacceptable.

The Montana sun is hot in the summertime and does account for a lot of rednecks, but to have a chief judge exhibit these behaviors, out loud, from his office, just exemplifies for me we have not come very far since I was in high school. I hope public outcry builds on this fool. The good people of Montana deserve no less.
