Monks vs. biker chicks

Dear Editor:I don’t know which was better during my Ride For The Cure on Saturday, the monks at the monastery or the “biker chicks” at Woody Creek Tavern. How would you like to be welcomed to an aid station with a sign saying, “YOU ARE TERRIFIC”? Sounds pretty good after riding 71.5 miles. Hitting the Woody Creek Tavern, I was welcomed with ear-deafening cowbells and a margarita! Can’t get much better than that! What a day it was, with the cause, the breast cancer survivors cheering, yelling, feeding the riders, the volunteers cheering, directing, feeding and massaging the riders. It was well worth the 90 miles I rode. (Sorry, I couldn’t repeat Conoco to the Monastery). Thank you to my co-workers at Aspen Valley Hospital and my friends, who contributed to my fund-raising efforts, and to AVH for sponsoring me and the rest of the AVH team, and to the wonderful breast cancer survivors who continue their plight and give me something to feel good, and sore, about. Next week, the Golden Leaf … Yikes!!! Nan “Saddle-sore” LichtyAspen
