Mobile relief project successful
Dear Editor:A thank you to Mike Fondo and his group of friends who took time out of their busy lives to offer help to the people from Louisiana (Aspen Times, Sept. 6).During the day on Friday and Saturday a handful of dedicated people put together a U-Haul truck and a trailer full of needed supplies. The donations of food, toiletries, clothing, tents, flashlights, sleeping bags, diapers, baby formula and other needed items kept coming all afternoon on Friday and all day on Saturday. We stopped by a number of times to drop off supplies, and we were amazed at how the truck kept filling up.The outpouring of generosity from our community continued throughout the day on Saturday and by 5 p.m. the trucks were filled to the top. Even the youngest in our community were there to donate. A little boy brought his treasured water float, and a little girl emptied her small change purse. Mike and Travis left at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night and drove nonstop to Louisiana. A thank you to all the people from our community who donated to our fellow neighbors in need. A thank you to all who made sure this project was successful. A thank you to Mike Fondo, Travis Blair, Holly, Ed, Jim, Michelle, Dan and Leah. This would not have happened without your diligent efforts and hard work! Ken and Patti MielyCarbondale
