Mitten project gets thumbs-up

Dear Editor:During the month of December, Aspen Middle School students and families participated in a holiday gift drive through LIFT-UP and Holiday Baskets. Originally started by the student group Acts of Hope, students were asked to stop by the front office and pick up a mitten with a description of a person in our valley who was in need of some extra help this holiday season. Within two weeks, all of the mittens were gone! The office was covered in gifts that the students and their families donated. It was wonderful to see everyone getting so excited about sharing with others. The students and their families absolutely amazed us all with their generosity. Aspen Middle School shares a commitment to nourish the young adolescent’s mind, body and spirit. Helping students learn to think of others outside of their family and social groups does just that. We would like to acknowledge the entire Aspen Middle School community, LIFT-UP and Holiday Baskets for their tremendous efforts to help others.Candice Christensen, parentMolly Kridel, counselorAspen Middle School
