Mistaken identity

Dear Editor:I am writing to clarify that the Jeremy Bernstein who wrote the editorial about North Korea on June 24, 2006, (Letters to the editor) is the OTHER Jeremy Bernstein. That Jeremy Bernstein has a Ph.D. in physics. I am the attorney. Dr. Bernstein and I used to have an agreement that when he felt compelled to write editorials, he would identify himself as the Ph.D. to avoid this misunderstanding. I do not agree with his comments about the North Korea’s potential missile launch, especially Dr. Bernstein’s minimization of the seriousness of this threat. It would appear that rather than confront this dangerous development, Dr. Bernstein would have the United States government do nothing. Perhaps Dr. Bernstein might recall that when the United States hid its head in the sand when a totalitarian dictatorship in Germany began to rearm, this spineless strategy resulted in World War II.The United States must confront this dangerous, militaristic dictatorship on all fronts, including threatening the use of military force.Jeremy BernsteinAspen
