Missionary to speak on Israeli-Palestinian situation

United Methodist missionary Janet Lahr Lewis will share her perspectives on the Israeli-Palestinian situation in three free presentations this week.

Lewis will speak at 6 p.m. Saturday in the sanctuary of the Aspen Community United Methodist Church at Second and Bleeker streets. She will speak at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the Basalt Community United Methodist Church at 0167 Holland Hills Road. She also will speak at noon Sunday at the Carbondale Community United Methodist Church at 385 S. Second St. That presentation will follow a community potluck.

Everyone is welcome to the presentations, according to Rev. Marie Gasau.

Lahr Lewis is a missionary with the Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church. She spent several years living and volunteering in Galilee, then in Bethlehem. She tries to help work for a lasting peace for Palestinians and Israelis.
