Missing van in Snowmass might have been stolen
Snowmass Village police are investigating the possible theft of a shuttle van after it disappeared overnight Tuesday.
The van was being used by Summit Construction to shuttle employees from their lodging in the core of the village to a job site at the Viceroy Snowmass hotel, said Snowmass Police Chief Brian Olson. It was discovered missing from Lot 4 early Wednesday morning.
The individual responsible for the keys and for driving the shuttle is still in the village, but the keys are missing, Olson said. After searching other possible locations, officers determined the vehicle had likely been stolen and issued a notice to law enforcement agencies statewide.
The van is a former Village Shuttle vehicle that Olson believes the town sold several years ago. It has been painted a pale gray, but Olson wasn’t sure if it had a logo on it.
Olson said his officers were following some leads, including lists of employees and other individuals who would have known what the keys were for.
