Dear Editor:With the beginning of the new year, Senior Girt Scout Troop 265 began a “Flamingo” fund-raiser to raise money for their upcoming trip to a Girl Scout World Center in London this coming August. Our fund-raiser began with placing over 30 flamingos in people’s yards at the request of friends and co-workers. Unfortunately, many of our flamingos have been stolen from these yards. This letter is to ask that if you have or know of anyone who has any of the Girl Scouts’ large (or small) pink flamingos, to please return them to us, no questions asked. They can be dropped off at either the Basalt Middle School or Basalt High School offices. We need the missing flamingos to continue with this popular fund-raiser. These flamingos were purchased by the Girl Scouts, and we cannot afford to replace the ones that were stolen. If you would like to purchase any of the flamingos once this fund-raiser ends, you may do so by contacting me at 923-3347.D.D. GerdinLeader, Girl Scout Troop 265Snowmass
The Aspen City Council directed staff to move forward with the Burlingame early childhood education center, but decided it needs more information on the affordable housing units that are part of the schematic design at a work session Monday.
