The Ravenheart Gallery, located at 430 E. Cooper Ave. in Aspen, will host a benefit event at 4 p.m. Tuesday for International Midwife Assistance, a Boulder-based nonprofit group devoted to lowering maternal and infant mortality in areas of crisis.

Jennifer Braun, International Midwife Assistance’s program director, will present a slide show about the organization’s work in northern Uganda, where it has established the Teso Safe Motherhood Project. The birth center serves women who have been displaced by civil war. International Midwife Assistance has also launched program in Afghanistan and Haiti.

Today’s event will feature appetizers and wine as well as the slide show. Donations will be accepted and all money raised at the event will go to the Teso Safe Motherhood Project.
