Midvalley recreation center sites subject of El Jebel meeting

Aspen Times staff report
Aspen, CO Colorado

EL JEBEL – The Crown Mountain Park and Recreation District will host a public meeting on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the El Jebel Community Center to discuss possible sites for a midvalley recreation center.

The district has started planning for a recreation center in the El Jebel neighborhood, and one of the first questions to be addressed is the center’s location. Consultants have identified a number of potential sites both inside the existing Crown Mountain Park and in the surrounding area. The purpose of Wednesday’s meeting is to gather opinions on alternative locations in keeping with community needs and values.

The Crown Mountain board of directors plans to decide on a preferred location by the end of April so that more specific planning on the center itself and programming can begin.

Wednesday’s meeting is expected to last for two hours.
