Mick’s an inspiration

Dear Editor:

Resort communities around Colorado learn a lot from each other.

As a Green elected official in Telluride for the past 13 years, I’ve paid close attention to Aspen politics and its elected officials, and my community is a better place for having done so.

So, with municipal elections coming round again, I felt it was my responsibility to let you know that Mick Ireland has been an inspiration to me and to many of us around the state who look to local leaders for vision, community engagement, and integrity.

Aspen has produced many fine elected officials ” people with a deep sense of place who work not only for their own constituents but for the good of the entire region ” Dorothea Farris, Michael Kinsley, Rachel Richards, Jack Hatfield. And I would certainly list Mick Ireland in this distinguished group.

Aspen citizens would be wise to retain an even-handed mayor like Mick Ireland who has the history, the stamina and the wisdom to lead the community forward through these difficult economic times.
