Mikaela Shiffrin won her second consecutive World Cup slalom in Aspen today.

Shiffrin, who won Saturday’s slalom in record-setting fashion, repeated the feat this afternoon.

Collecting her 16th World Cup win, the 20-year-old from Eagle-Vail once again skied away from the field to take a second dominating victory.

Frida Hansdotter, who was third in the Saturday slalom, moved up one position and finished second today.

Third place went to Sarka Strachova of the Czech Republic, a former winner at the Aspen Winternationall World Cup races.

Resi Stiegler of Jackson, Wyoming, finished 10th, unofficially, giving the U.S. two skiers in the top 10.

Shiffrin recorded the fastest time in the first run of today’s World Cup slalom, taking a 1.69-second lead into the afternoon second run.

American Paula Moltzan of Minnesota completed the first run in 52.88. She won’t advance to the second run as one of the top 30 finishers this morning.

Lila Lapanja of Truckee, California, who made her first World Cup start Saturday, completed her first Cup run Sunday. The NorAm slalom champion from last season did not qualify for a second run.

Shiffrin won the Saturday World Cup slalom in commanding fashion, topping the field by 3.07 seconds, the largest margin in women’s World Cup slalom history. She won today by 2.68 seconds, unofficially.

The Saturday win also was the first by an American woman in an Aspen World Cup since 1981 when Tamara McKinney reached the top of the podium in Aspen.

Veronika Velez Zuzulova of Slovakia, who finished second to Shiffrin on Saturday, skied out early in the first run today.
