Memorial for Paynter set

A memorial for longtime valley resident Steven Joseph Paynter, who died recently while hiking in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, will be Saturday.

The service will be held at 3 p.m. at the home of Steven Paynter and Nancy White, in Shield O Mesa in Old Snowmass. Directions to the house will be marked from Snowmass Creek Road past the Aspen Camp School for the Deaf, or call 923-5923.

Paynter, 30, had lived in the Roaring Fork Valley for 10 years. He was an independent contractor who worked on homes in Aspen and Snowmass.
