John McMahon, Aspen High School class of 1980 and current Breckenridge Resort Chamber executive director, recently announced that he remarried in Aspen on Friday, Feb. 27, to Kathryn Carlton of La Jolla, Calif.

McMahon is the son of former Aspen residents Peter and Francy McMahon, former owners of the Arrow Shop (1975-1983), now living in Santa Fe. Carlton is the daughter of Tom Carlton of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Lois Carlton of Ventura County, Calif., both deceased.

The couple married at sunset on the Aspen Museum Bridge with their two dogs, Rio and Tiffany, and a few smiling passersby. The brief ceremony was per formed by Buddhist Reverend Marta Steinmetz.

Bates Hayes (daughter of Mary and Jim Hayes), The Sky Hotel, and the Caribou Club helped to make for a very special evening. McMahon’s ring was quickly custom crafted by Bates and modeled after the “Massive Bracelet” that Jim designed. The Sky Hotel found the couple a room (they were booked), decorated the room with white roses, and held a private table in the 39 Degrees Lounge in the hotel right in the middle of a jammed apres ski crowd. And finally, the Caribou Club came through with a private dinner in the wine cellar (Olivier’s Room) while the rest of the club was packed full of guests.

“It was a perfect elopement!” McMahon said. “We will be forever grateful for everyone’s efforts, a huge thank you from us. We plan to have a celebration with family (including my daughters Paige and Tess McMahon) and friends in early summer, most likely in La Jolla.”
