McCain morphs into nonsense

Dear Editor:

As one who gave a small donation to John McCain’s 2000 campaign, I have been observing with distress his morphing into a nonsense-spouting bobblehead doll. The latest is his absurd claim that President Bush’s lifting the executive ban on off-shore oil drilling is responsible for the present, probably temporary, decline in the price of oil. Everyone knows, including McCain, that even if drilling were to start tomorrow, there would be no oil for something like a decade.

In any event, there can be no drilling without congressional approval, which will not happen. McCain says that this act of Bush will have a “psychological impact.” Keep that in mind the next time you fill your tank. What would have a psychological impact on me would be for McCain to return to the person he once was.
