May as well drive
Dear Editor:
I noticed this morning when I got on the bus that RAFTA has yet again raised its fares. It now costs two people who are commuting to or from Basalt-Aspen $8 each way. Why should anyone who has a functioning car take the bus? If this valley is so concerned about the number of cars in each town or on the highway ” wouldn’t it make sense to provide “affordable” public transportation? Take a look at Denver; one can bus it all the way to Nederland (50 miles) for the same $8.
Please, RAFTA, be a part of the solution, not the problem! It’s time for government to get involved in transportation issues as well as “employee housing.” We need a proactive government, not a self-absorbed “reactive” one.
