Max a shining example |

Max a shining example

I had the gift of having Max Marolt as my Godfather. He was an incredible person, memorable and special.

For 38 years, I respected everything about Max Marolt – the man, the life and the legacy he built. For Max, family was everything. In our frequent meetings over the years, it was obvious that family was number one.

Max had a passion and energy for life that I have seldom seen. He lived life on his terms and the center of his life from a young age was the mountain. As a competitor, Max was a contender at every level and one of the strongest skiers ever to strap on a pair of skis.

His love and passion for the sport of skiing carried over from Max’s competitive skiing career, into an extraordinary professional career as a pioneer and leader in the ski industry in America.

One customer at a time, he built a business that earned him respect among all. His integrity, honesty and work ethic were his calling card, and one that no one could match.

As a young person I learned much from Max. He always asked me if I had been going to church. Sometimes the answer was yes, sometimes it was no.

Now, most of all, as a young man with my own family, I look at Max and the life he made as a shining example of how to do it right. Put family first. Do that which you love. Never do anything halfway, and your word is all you’ve got.

Max will be remembered by all who knew him. I will remember him as one of the finest persons I knew.
