Tucson man found dead near Maroon Bells, coroner confirms
Jeffery Bushroe, 27, sustained head and leg injuries
The man found dead near the Maroon Bells on Saturday was from Arizona, the Pitkin County Coroner’s Office announced Monday morning.
Jeffrey Bushroe, 27, of Tucson was found dead Saturday morning by another hiker near Crater Lake. Bushroe sustained “several visible injuries to his head and leg,” the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday.
Bushroe was found about 7 a.m. and believed to be hiking alone, sheriff’s investigators said.
Members of Mountain Rescue Aspen arrived on scene, which was about a half-mile south of Crater Lake, at 9:38 a.m. and declared Bushroe dead. He was brought out of the wilderness area about four hours later.
Pitkin County officials said Monday Bushroe’s death remains under investigation and an autopsy is pending so they would not release any more information.
