Marks has experience and grace

Dear Editor:

Marilyn Marks’ criticism of the Aspen City Council and city government has benefited the Aspen community many times. She questioned many City Council actions including: the historic designation of buildings over 30 years old; the unacceptable high cost and poor design of Burlingame Phase 1; the too expensive purchase of BMC and other land for affordable housing; the premature timing of the ballot Question 1 for sale of city land to the Art Museum, and many other issues.

In these issues the main points are lack of good governance and lack of transparency. She always has good ideas for doing things differently to come up with a better result.

Her criticism of city policies has resulted in attacks against her by the mayor. She has handled these situations with the grace and determination that make a good leader.

Marilyn’s experience as CEO of a manufacturing company and board member on several boards of directors give her the skills needed to lead Aspen in this difficult economic times.

Marilyn will get my vote for mayor and I encourage you to do the same.
