Mark Haas
Aspen, CO, Colorado

9/23/1954 – 8/9/2012
Longtime visitor, resident, extraordinary mountaineer, artist, poet, musician, animal lover and outdoorsman, Mark Haas passed away at his home in Pahoa, Hawaii. Mark lived in the mountains he loved surrounding Aspen through most of the 1980’s and 90’s. Raised in Lake Bluff, Illinois, Mark first visited Aspen in the 60’s and here began his love affair with the mountains. Also a lifetime nature and animal lover, Mark was most often found outdoors with a beloved canine companion.
He is survived by his loving parents, Patricia Chamberlain and John Haas; his sister, Hilary Orozco and her family; his brother, Michael Haas and his family; his cousin, like a sister, Laura DeFrise and her family; step-sister and brother, Martha and Michael Chamberlain; Judy Haas and her daughter, Jessica Cox; and his loving companion of the last few years, Tenji Cowan; all of whom he loved dearly.
We ask that the many people that have known Mark over the years will remember to love where you are, love what you are doing, and share your love with everyone around you in his spirit.
