High Buy: Toast Reserve Alpine Pack
August 23, 2018
When Toast, a Colorado-based cannabis startup, launched last summer during the Food & Wine Classic to introduce festival-goers to its sleek, pre-rolls (on-board a private, invite-only party bus, of course), I have to admit I wasn't immediately sold. Touted as luxury marijuana cigarettes, I took issue to the fact that such a brand could cause yet another reason for naysayers to compare smoking cannabis and smoking tobacco. Especially in a place as health-conscious as Aspen.
I was gifted a coupon for a pack of Toast Original, which after redeeming at Silverpeak, I saved until heading to a dinner party the next weekend. The black embossed packaging with a gold leaf overlay upon opening is hostess gift-worthy alone. Inside, 10 "slices" are included, each formulated with a proprietary concoction of low THC and high CBD strains designed for slow, social and mindful consumption.
My fellow guests were impressed before we even gathered outside, but as we shared slices the verdict was in — Toast is the most perfect pot product for parties.
Since last summer, the company has grown rapidly, corning the Colorado cannabis cigarette market and expanding into California, with plans to hit shelves in Nevada dispensaries next month. Their product portfolio has grown from a 10-pack to 5-pack and 2-pack offerings along with Toast Gold, designed to mirror the strength and effect of one glass of Champagne. The brand likens the consumption of its Original formula to one sip of a cocktail (one puff) or one drink (one slice).
While their business is now spanning multiple legal states, Toast founder and CEO Punit Seth says, "We will always be a born-in-Aspen company. The ethos and beauty of this special place embodies exactly what we try to achieve with our brand."
With Silverpeak as its first stockist, Seth considers the boutique dispensary Toast's flagship store. As such, the company is now introducing its latest line exclusively with Silverpeak by way of the limited edition Toast Reserve Alpine Pack.

"Toast is exciting for us because it offers the market a luxury, low-THC, high-CBD cannabis cigarette or 'pre-roll'. The goal is not to get you super high; the goal is to offer the customer a functional, social high," explains Silverpeak general manager Lauren Petersen. "The high-end, sexy branding and packaging are obviously aesthetically pleasing to the Aspen customer base and the taste is different from other pre-rolls — it's more earthy with less terpenes."
Featuring the new Reserve blend, which is produced using a small-batch, exotic landrace (cannabis-speak for original, pure and rare) strain, it's Toast's answer to locals and loyal customers who shared feedback that they wanted something stronger.
The only way to try what Seth compares to a reserve bourbon is with the purchase of the entire black box ($350), which includes 10 slices of Toast Reserve, five slices of Toast Gold and five slices of Toast Original. All Toast products are sativa-dominant, providing for an energetic and happy high.
"There is no better place for us to introduce and test this new formula. What we're really trying to do is eliminate a lot of the confusion for consumers — especially tourists — when they go into a dispensary," Seth says. "Silverpeak does such an amazing job with educating their customers and we think we make our products very easy to understand, too."
Seth says that if he continues to see a demand for the higher potency option, they will officially launch Toast Reserve later this year. For now, only 250 Toast Reserve Alpine Packs are available at Silverpeak, and while the price is pretty steep, it will change your coffee table game or take any event to the next level.
