Joel StoningtonAspen, CO Colorado

ASPEN A 56-year-old man was arrested Monday night for indecent exposure after a family saw him allegedly urinating in the 100 block of North Mill Street in Aspen.Carlos Hernandez-Corona, whose hometown was unknown, complained to responding police officers that aliens were burning his arms with lasers and said the rocks in his pockets were to protect him from the lasers, according to a police report.Police found an 8-inch chisel on Hernandez-Corona, which presumably was used for breaking up the rocks. Aspen Police Sgt. Bill Linn said children were with the family but had not witnessed the incident, so Hernandez-Corona was charged with misdemeanor indecent exposure to an adult.Hernandez-Corona was released from the Pitkin County Jail on a personal recognizance bond Tuesday morning with a summons to appear in court. The Aspen Counseling Center was contacted, but police could not comment further because it is considered a mental health issue. In an unrelated case, police received a call Tuesday afternoon about three drunken men urinating in Paepcke Park. Linn said three men fitting the description were found but no arrests were made. Linn said Hernandez-Corona’s case is the only indecent exposure arrest in Aspen so far in 2007 and only the third case within the last year.Joel Stonington’s e-mail address is jstonington@aspentimes.com
