Man found dead in Snowmass home
A 37-year-old man was found dead in his Snowmass Village home on Monday.
A friend went to Shelton Yocum’s residence and found him unresponsive, calling 911 at approximately 7:30 p.m., said Snowmass Village Police Chief Brian Olson. Police and medics responded to the scene but were unable to resuscitate Yocum.
The Pitkin County Coroner’s Office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. Until they see those results, officers don’t have any reason to suspect foul play, Olson said.
Yocum worked for Aspen Skiing Co. at Sam’s Smokehouse last winter, said Skico spokesman Jeff Hanle. Hanle said he didn’t know where he worked before that.
The Aspen City Council directed staff to move forward with the Burlingame early childhood education center, but decided it needs more information on the affordable housing units that are part of the schematic design at a work session Monday.
