Man found dead at Aspen lodge

ASPEN – Aspen police responded to an “unattended death” at the Mountain Chalet Wednesday morning, after an 86-year-old man was found unconscious and not breathing.

Police and an ambulance crew responded to the 911 call, received at about 8:40 a.m., and immediately began CPR, according to police. Efforts to revive the man were unsuccessful.

Aspen Police Detectives Walter Chi and Ian MacAyeal are investigating the death along with the Pitkin County Coroner’s Office; a report is pending.

The name of the man is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

The Mountain Chalet, a longtime local lodge, is located at 333 E. Durant Ave.
