FARMER’S KORNER, Colo. ” A man died Thursday night in a one-car accident near Summit High School, according to Captain Ron Prater of the Colorado State Patrol.

The accident, which went hours before it was reported just before 8 a.m. Friday, involved one man from Mexico, who has not been identified. He was not a student, nor was he involved in any way with the high school, Prater said.

“It appears he lost control of the vehicle and overcorrected, and basically launched off the road by the traffic light. The car went through numerous rollovers and he was ejected,” Prater said. “He was not wearing a seatbelt.”

Prater said investigators did not find any road conditions that could have led to the crash, but are considering speed as the main factor in the crash. They are also looking into whether the man had been drinking.

Traffic was being routed to side roads around Farmer’s Korner to avoid the accident scene.
