Man dies in Basalt

A man who was found dead in his Basalt home Thursday was identified yesterday as Donald E. Turner, 46, according to the Basalt Police Department.Police discovered the body after a relative of Turner’s requested a welfare check, said Police Chief Keith Ikeda. Police believe Turner died of natural causes. No foul play is suspected.Turner was last seen Tuesday evening, Feb. 8. Ikeda said it hasn’t been determined yet when he died. A pathologist’s investigation into the cause won’t be completed for about 10 days.Turner was found in his home on Hearthstone Drive in the Elk Run Subdivision about 2:15 p.m. Thursday. He was the owner and operator of a successful painting company, according to Ikeda.Turner apparently lived alone at the home. His ex-wife and a 7-year-old son live elsewhere in the valley, according to police.
