Man arrested in Pitkin County for allegedly sex trafficking minors, making and selling child-exploitative material

He was arrested on a warrant issued by Eagle County

A man was arrested on Monday in Pitkin County on 48 felony charges of sex trafficking, as well as making and selling child-exploitative material.

The man, 53, was pulled over for a traffic stop at the Aspen Village traffic light before he was arrested on an Eagle County warrant by Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jeremy Johnson, according to Pitkin County police records. He was transferred on Tuesday from the Pitkin County Jail to Eagle County Jail. His bond is $150,000 cash surety.

The man was charged with the felony charges of sex trafficking a minor, enticing or persuading a minor to conduct sexually exploitative acts to be viewed or sold, sixteen counts of possessing the sexually-exploitative material, sixteen counts of intent to sell the material, and thirteen counts of selling the material.

The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office declined to release an arrest warrant or affidavit regarding the man’s arrest.

“The case … is still an active investigation so we are not releasing anything at this time,” wrote the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office record’s department in an email.

The man likely committed the crimes in Eagle County because the warrant was issued from the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, according to Parker Lathrop, Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy of Operations.

The man will appear virtually in Eagle County court on Feb. 25 at 11:00 a.m.
