EAGLE-VAIL ” A man has been arrested in connection to a shooting death in Eagle-Vail Monday night, according to a statement issued today by the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.

Jacob Weiss, 19, was arrested and charged with manslaughter for allegedly assisting the suicide of his 18-year-old roommate, the sheriff’s office said. Weiss is being held in Eagle County Jail on $7,500 bond.

Authorities were called to the apartment Weiss shared with a roommate in Eagle-Vail at 10 p.m. Monday for a report of a man shot in the head. The victim was transported to the Vail Valley Medical Center and later to Denver Health Hospital where he died.

Deputies investigating the incident discovered that the victim and Weiss were talking about suicide. Weiss allegedly went to his bedroom and brought a loaded shotgun to the victim. The victim then shot himself. Weiss knew the shotgun was loaded, the sheriff’s office said.
