Man arrested for peeping, exposing himself at lodge

Aspen police arrested a Carbondale man in the downtown area Sunday morning for alleged window peeping and indecent exposure, according to authorities.

Joel Sanchez, 25, was arrested after several guests of the Hearthstone House, a lodge at 134 E. Hyman Ave., reported that “he was peeping and had himself exposed,” said Officer Richard Pryor of the Aspen Police Department.

“I looked out the window to see what kind of day it was going to be, and was greeted by this!” said John Bender, of Lakewood. Bender was a guest at the Hearthstone House Saturday night.

Pryor said Sanchez was near a walkway between the Hearthstone House and a neighboring building when the alleged conduct took place.

After Sanchez was placed under arrest, police booked him into the Pitkin County Jail. Sanchez later posted the $400 bond required for release. He must appear in Aspen Municipal Court on Oct. 13 to face the charges.
