Malone brings fresh perspective

Dear Editor:

The candidacy of Dee Malone for county commissioner provides a rare opportunity to elect a leader with the refreshing qualities of courage and vision for Pitkin County.

Her background as an environmental scientist will bring an intelligent and science-based approach toward reconciling land-use issues regarding the development and conservation of our natural heritage. She also has the practical knowledge and experience necessary for good decision-making. Her authenticity and courage will always be transparent, and she will respond to and work for the benefit of the entire county.

Unlike her opponent, who has gone on record of opposing a caucus majority wish to protect critical wildlife habitat, Dee will respond to and represent all of the outlying caucus areas in Pitkin County with a sensitivity toward local control and wishes. It is not enough to say you support the Pitkin County Ecological Bill of Rights on issues. We need to elect someone who feels that our county will not exempt themselves, out of expediency, from land-use codes applicable to everyone else.

Don’t miss this opportunity to vote for Dee Malone.
