Make a difference this Saturday

The Four Rivers Asset Building Communities Initiative and Aspen Valley Community Foundation are asking everyone to volunteer for “Make A Difference Day, 1999,” this Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The nationwide event challenges people to spend one Saturday “making a difference” in their communities and in the lives of others, by participating in a volunteer service project.

Volunteer projects will be held in Parachute, Rifle, Glenwood Springs, Carbondale and Aspen. Each of the five sites will need volunteer assistance with projects, which include: cleaning up neighborhoods and parks; fixing up schools and youth centers; improving area trails; gardening at senior housing complexes; organizing books at libraries; and assisting nonprofit groups with painting, carpentry and office projects.

People of all ages are encouraged to participate and volunteers will receive a picnic lunch and a “Make A Difference Day” T-Shirt for their efforts.

For more information or to register as a volunteer, call the Aspen Valley Community Foundation at 925-7887 or the Four Rivers Asset Building Communities Initiative at 625-3141. Registration forms are also available at area Alpine Banks.
