Lyle D. Reeder, 82, DeWitt, Ill., a businessman, landowner/operator and conservationist, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2011 at the home of his nephew, John D. Reeder, in Phoenix, Ariz. He is survived by his only sister, Katie (Vance L.) Fraley of Taylorville, Ill. and 18 nieces and nephews.

Mr. Reeder was born Aug. 4, 1929, the son of John H. and Inez B. Clary Reeder in DeWitt, Ill. He graduated from Clinton Community High School and the University of Illinois, Champaign. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany.

Mr. Reeder divided his residency time between DeWitt, Illinois and Aspen, Colo. He was well known in the Aspen community for his commitment to land conservation.

Preceding him in death are his parents and six brothers: Roger, Morris, John, Buddy, Carl and James.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Ill. A funeral service will be Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Calvert Funeral Home in Clinton. Burial will be in DeWitt Cemetery, DeWitt, Ill.
