Letter to Snowmass Village Residents:

My name is Jamie Knowlton and I am running for Snowmass Village Town Council in a special election triggered by the recall of Chris Jacobson, a current council member. Ballots are in the mail and may be returned via mail or dropped off at Snowmass Town Hall by October 13, 2015. The ballot first asks if Chris Jacobson should be recalled and if you agree then you have a choice among three candidates: Richard Goodwin, Tom Goode and James Knowlton.

I am asking for your vote because I believe my ties to the community and my background allow me to complement the experience and vision of the existing members of the Town Council. For those of you who do not know me, I was born in Aspen, the son of a 10th Mountain Division soldier, Steve Knowlton and original owner of the Golden Horn Restaurant. I am an ex-ski racer turned lawyer and married to Gwyn, who owns High Alpine Restaurant with George Gordon on Snowmass Mountain. We live in Snowmass Village and I have a private law practice in Basalt. I am familiar with development having been the project manager for an affordable housing project known as the North Forty. I have been active in the community including stints as a board of director of the Aspen/Pitkin County Housing Authority and Aspen Ski Club. I am familiar with municipal budgets having been the chair of Aspen’s Financial Advisory Board. I was the executive director of a local non-profit, Alpine Legal Services which provided legal services to indigent clients. Currently, I am on the Town of Snowmass Village’s Planning Commission which is reviewing Base Village.

I urge everyone to vote and to be informed about their vote. Snowmass Village deserves representation that is fully engaged. I would appreciate your vote.

Jamie Knowlton
