Lost Mt. of Holy Cross hiker found

EAGLE COUNTY ” A hiker was found Tuesday morning after she became lost in the Mount of the Holy Cross area, authorities said.

Rescuers are now trying to get the woman, 31, out of area, according to authorities.

The woman called 911 for help, saying she was lost on the Half Moon Trail that leads to the summit of the peak, one of Colorado’s fourteeners, said Sgt. Alex Lacovetto of the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.

At the time, she was not injured, but her condition was unavailable Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Monday night, the woman had good cell phone reception with rescuers, Lacovetto said.

She began her hike around 8 a.m. and called 911 around 5:30 p.m., he said.

Authorities did not know the woman’s name.
