Longtime local McGrath dies
August 19, 2002
Aspen attorney and longtime valley resident Nicholas McGrath died of a heart attack over the weekend, friends said Sunday.
He is survived by his children, 18-year-old Molly and 20-year-old Nick Jr.
McGrath represented both Pitkin County and the Aspen Chamber Resort Association at different points in his career.
McGrath, a fixture at Basalt sporting events, was well-known around the Times’ sports department for his frequent faxes detailing Longhorn triumphs.
Pitkin County Commissioner Dorothea Farris said McGrath’s love for sports led him to become active in the development of a recreation center in the midvalley.
