‘Locally Grown, Internationally Known’ the slogan for Aspen’s 63rd annual Winterskol Celebration Jan. 9-14
October 30, 2013
"Locally Grown, Internationally Known" is the official slogan of the 63rd annual Winterskol Celebration, set for Jan. 9 through 14 in Aspen.
The Aspen Chamber Resort Association, the event's organizer, made the announcement Monday. The winning slogan was submitted by Aspen resident Tony Coia, who also won in 2008 with the slogan "Some Like It Hot."
"I've always enjoyed the challenge of the naming game," Coia said in a statement. "Not only have I named Winterskol two times now, but I also named a chairlift in Snowmass when the base was being developed. I named it 'Sky Cab' (tied with another person), better known as 'Skittles Lift' by the kids."
Entrants in the latest contest were asked to submit catchphrases between one and five words — short enough to fit onto a 3-inch, round button — that kept with the theme of Winterskol but also acknowledged Aspen's international flair during Winter Olympics years.
Coia will receive a pass to the 2014 Food & Wine Classic in Aspen for his winning submission.
