Fun run in Basalt on Sunday will raise funds for Aspen Hope Center

A fun run to raise funds for the Aspen Hope Center will be held Sunday in Basalt.

The fifth annual Basalt Color Run 5K, organized by National Honor Society students at Basalt High School, will follow a route that winds through downtown Basalt. It is ideal for families because it’s supposed to be colorful and fun, according to a statement from the student organizers. Participants are urged to wear colorful clothing.

The cost is $15 per person for pre-registration and $20 on Sunday. Participants can register online at register online at

Check-in begins at 10 a.m. Sunday in Arbaney Park in Basalt, and the run starts at 11 a.m.

“Join the fun, get some exercise, have some laughs and help raise money for the Aspen Hope Center; fun run with lots of colors,” said the notice from the National Honor Society.

Longtime ranch owners object to Basalt master plan’s view of their property

The town of Basalt is working on an update to its 2007 master plan. The document will be a blueprint for how and where the town will grow. But the family that has owned a 180-acre ranch at the edge of town for nearly 60 years objected Tuesday to the document’s parameters for its property.
